The Art of a Wedding

Wedding calligraphy artistOur tag line here at Wilmington Weddings is local…chic…smart.  Today we are featuring one of our favorite friends from Etsy, the world’s most vibrant handmade marketplace…at your fingertips.  What could be smarter than that?  You can even find dozens of our local vendors on Etsy…so we’ve covered our bases, I think.

Danae Hernandez of E. Danae Calligraphy who creates the loveliest calligraphy that includes custom invitations, envelope addressing, wedding maps, letterpress and on.

Practicing calligraphy since she was 12, Danae says her favorite things are, “A calligraphy pen, smooth paper, watercolor palette and an imagination fueled by lots of ZZZZs and chai tea.

What we find most charming are her wedding maps, sign in scrolls and signs.  The sign in scrolls, an alternative to the traditional wedding guest book, are hand painted, customized with your style and color choices.  We asked Danae to create a scroll for Cathy and Ty whose wedding was on Bald Head Island — she used their colors along with their theme (a tandem bicycle).

Along with the sign scroll, we have worked with Danae on several other projects, including signs for other couples.  It’s always a fun collaboration and I know I’m working with a true artist.

Hello,

Your website is beautiful!

May I ask a favor? I ordered a two-sided sign for my ringbearers some time ago (from etsy.com). One side will say “…And they lived Happily Ever After”. I recently came across your sign and love the “storybook font”. Would you mind telling me what font it is? (The artist is hand painting the sign, but for some reason, she told me she would need to know the font. Maybe she uses a template.)

Thanks,
Nancy
